Group 3: Writing Task: Wednesday

Look at the picture and allow it to stimulate your senses. Imagine what you would hear, see, smell, taste, feel?

Might you hear the squawk of pigeons or chittering of birds singing, the sound of the ice-cream van? Might you see friends from school, nature? Might you smell fresh air, perhaps coffee from a cart beside the playpark? Might you taste your picnic? How would you be feeling?

Complete the five senses table below:

Group 3: Writing Task - Thursday

Write a paragraph about the story setting, use the adjective bank to help you!

  • Ideas: A busy playpark, look at and describe each character. Consider the girl and the boy in the tree house? The cat creeping up on the squirrel? The boy and his dog at the tree? The girl at the picnic?
  • Try and create a vision in your head with your writing. Imagine a glorious summer day in the park with your friends, lockdown has lifted and you are all reunited. Create this image through your words and descriptions.

WILF (What I am looking for)

  • Refer to your five senses in your descriptions.
  • Different sentence starters .e.g. "As I turned around I could hear...The feeling of happiness came over me as I saw..."
  • Adverbs to describe HOW the characters move, speak, interact etc.
  • Try and include one piece of dialogue - imagine? What would these characters be saying?
