Happy New Year and welcome back to Nursery!

This month we will be exploring the exciting topics of ‘Birds’ and ‘Winter’.

We look forward to learning more about the birds that visit our gardens and local area, through our play, community time learning and educational visitors coming in to Nursery. We will be making our very own binoculars and going on a short winter and bird walk to see what birds we can see and hear in our Nursery playground and down on the MUGA beside the park. We will also be learning about how we can look after birds, especially in winter time, by making special bird food.

As well as this, we will be providing opportunities for children to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills across the various areas of the Pre-School Curriculum.

We enjoyed a special visit from Oxford Island staff as part of our bird topic!

We all made a pair of binoculars and enjoyed using them on our bird walk!

We used paint, kitchen roll tubes, decorations and ribbon to make binoculars!

We then went on a short walk around our school. We used our binoculars to spot birds! Some birds were flying in the sky, some were in trees, some were on the grass and some were even sitting on the school roof! We spotted blackbirds, seagulls, crows, pigeons and robins!

We are enjoying making music!

We are enjoying learning how to make music with different musical instruments! We are learning to tap, shake, beat and scrape!

The boys enjoyed creating a class band! They played their instruments along to the music!
