Mental Maths:

Spellings

  • Gr 1-2 Hardest words to learn/ Gr 3-4 Next most common words 

Reading:

It is imperative that children read for enjoyment at home for at least 15 minutes per day. Please make use of our free access to NI libraries.

Literacy:

One writing task to be completed into exercise book:

Group 1/2: Write a letter to your local MP (local politician) about a change you feel is needed in your community. Consider ideas such as local areas (park), helping the elderly and keeping safe.

E.g. You have noticed young people loitering around the park and creating an intimidating atmosphere for younger children.

WILF (What I am looking for)

  • Use of proper letter format (Dear Sir, Yours Sincerely etc).
  • Use of formal writing style.
  • Use of correct punctuation, spelling and grammar.
  • Persuasive vocabulary.

Group 3/4: Complete one page of your creative writing book (setting/ scenario description)

 

  • One comprehension to be completed weekly: One per week. Group 1 (Finches): The Rooks Parliament, Group 2 (Sparrows): Jacky Daydream Remembers, Group 3 (Wrens): London Goes Wild , Group 4 (Robins): Green Cross Code 

 

Numeracy:

  • Complete maths book 1 – test 1-7 (Pace throughout the week)/ Individual children (Gr 4) to work on “Shape, Measure and Data Handling” booklet to pg 10
