Welcome to latest news
King’s Park Primary and Nursery School is participating in a Sustrans event called “The Big Pedal”.
As a school we are working towards our green ECO FLAG. As part of this we are taking part in ‘The Big Pedal’ which starts on Monday 25th March and continues for two weeks finishing on Friday 5th April. We are encouraging children to walk, cycle or scoot to school safely with appropriate adult supervision. If you live further from school perhaps you could cycle, scoot or walk the last part of your journey. We would greatly appreciate any participation in the above event.
Each parent is responsible for the safety of their child/ren coming to and going home from school.
Nursery to Primary 7
Closing Date Monday 8th April at 9.00am
This year our Easter Competition asks our children to design something that can be worn – it may be a hat or bonnet or a shoe or brooch or necklace or scarf or whatever. The more unusual and creative the better!
As usual children are permitted to have assistance from family and friends so that the competition can be a family project.
There will be an Easter Egg presented to 3 winners from each class throughout the school and a larger egg plus a £10 token for each overall winner in Nursery, Foundation Stage (P1 & P2), Key Stage I (P3 & P4), and Key Stage II (P5, 6 & 7).
The one overall school winner will receive a KING SIZE Easter Egg plus a £20 token. All other entrants will get a cream egg.
All entries are to be brought to the Assembly Hall and placed on the Class Table before school begins on MONDAY 8TH APRIL. Parents and friends are invited to view entries between 12.00 noon and 3.30pm on Monday 8th April in the Assembly Hall.
Winning entries will also be displayed in the school reception area on Tuesday 9th through to Thursday 11th April for parents and friends to view.

Our sponsored Readathon finished on Thursday 7th March to coincide with World Book Day. Children were able to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. Here are some photos of the day!
(Please remember to send in any outstanding sponsorship money by Friday 15th March.)
Thank you for your support!!
On Wednesday 6th March, the boys’ hockey team went to KJHS to compete in the NI Qualifiers. The boys started with a hard match against Bocombra PS and unfortunately came away with a defeat. However, this match proved to be a blip and the boys went on to win the rest of the matches in their group, beating Armstrong 1-0, Hart Memorial 5-0 and Edenderry 5-0! This meant that the boys qualified for the semi-finals!
In the semi-final we played a very strong Seagoe side. The boys played exceptional hockey throughout and created numerous chances to take the lead. The match was nearly over when Alfie Speer popped up to score a late winner to win the match 1-0 and send us through to the final!
In the final the boys came up against Bocombra again. This time we put up a much better fight and came away with a narrow 1-0 defeat. Special mention must go to our goalkeeper, Charlie Gault, who played unbelievably well in the final and was rightly awarded man of the match!
By finishing second, the boys qualified for the NI Finals on the 8th April. This is possibly the first time a boys’ team from King’s Park has qualified for the NI Finals!! A massive achievement from all the boys who all played incredibly well and can be proud of their performances!
Team: Charlie Gault, Oliver Bingham, Peter McClughan, Jack Cowan, Harry Kerr, Daniel McClughan, Alfie Speer and Aaron Kinkead
On Wednesday 6th March the girls' A team took part in the Mid Ulster tournament at Banbridge High School. The girls had three group matches to play against Abercorn, Markethill and Millington and produced three very convincing wins. Ellie Cousins scored twice to give a 2-0 win over Abercorn. Against Markethill Ellie again got two with Alex Kerr and Emma Latimer also getting their names on the score sheet to give King's Park and 4-0 victory. In the final group match against Millington the girls knew they needed a win in order to progress to the semi-final and win they did, with Alex and Emma sharing the spoils to give them another 2-0 victory.
The semi-final against Armstrong was hard fought. Haydn McKinley and Chloe Gordon battled hard in defence to prevent Armstrong from scoring and at half time the score was nil-nil. Ellie and Alex came up trumps again with a goal each to give the girls a 2-0 win and a place in the final against Seagoe.
The final was to be the toughest test of the day for the girls. Haydn and Chloe battled hard at the back as did Tilly Douglas, who had been amazing throughout in goals. Unfortunately Seagoe proved too strong and won the match 3-0. However, second spot was good enough to qualify the King's Park girls for the Large Schools Mid Ulster Tournament later this month.
A big thanks to Mrs Thompson for her hard work throughout the year.
Team: Chloe Gordon, Haydn McKinley, Emma Latimer, Ellie Cousins, Tilly Douglas, Katie Redpath, Alex Kerr, Sophie Tate and Millie Dowds.
