Large Construction

Large construction resources help children develop their gross motor skills as they are lifting bigger and slightly heavier resources. Children will also be able to develop their imaginative skills and hand eye coordination as they build and construct different models.

We have a range of large construction resources indoors and outdoors.

Children learn about balance and how some things fall over when they are built too high.

We learn how to work together as part of a group and take turns and share equipment.

Some of our wooden blocks are very big and heavy.

We use a variety of muscles and skills to lift and put blocks together to make models.

We use our imaginations and develop language as we play with large construction resources

We have great fun and feel good about ourselves as we make models.

What a great feeling to have made a lovely model.

We also learn about measure and extend mathematical language.

We can develop counting skills as we play.

We also learn about how tools work.

We use what we have seen and re play during block play.

Children are provided with the space and equipment to develop their building skills.
