There are a number of ebooks on there that the children will be used to, like the Biff, Chip and Kipper books. They also have interactive games and activities for reading comprehension, and this is all free!

Should our school close we highly recommend using the Library NI's 1000s of eBooks and Audiobooks which are available to download for free - borrow up to eighteen at a time for three weeks - books automatically disappear at the end of the loan period

A short reading test to allow you to find out what level your child is reading at.
Going over High Frequency Words is another very important job. You will see the benefits the more you read with your child. The quicker children know these words the easier reading becomes for them. Most already know the first 45 words, the aim is that by the end of P2 children know the first 100 words off by heart. Practice, practice, practice! It will come, keep in fun, do it daily and for 15 minutes at a time. If they know the first 100 the second 100 words are available.
