September/October

Halloween! We had lots of fun in class talking about Halloween. We created our own pumpkins, hammered some golf tees into a pumpkin to help our fine motor skills, carved a pumpkin and looked inside and made some spooky/silly Halloween faces!

P1 made clay hedgehogs at the art table! We can't wait to show you the finished result after they dry out over the Halloween holidays!

Cereal Week! We enjoyed our cereal show and tell with our snack items! We talked about rice, maize, wheat and oats and found out which cereals were in our snacks!

We had lots of fun writing the 'p' sound on the big board as well as showing our 'p' objects from home!

Autumn Walk! We had a wonderful Autumn Walk to Lurgan Park to collect leaves! We used our magic binoculars to search for leaves of different colours and shapes. We learnt about different trees and the acorns and conkers that fall from them in the Autumn time! In school we sorted the leaves into different groups and have drawn some leaves using oil pastles!

We are trying very hard to learn our new sounds each week! Here we are practising our writing for the 's' sound.

Vegetable Week! P1 enjoyed exploring different vegetables! We ate them at snack time, used our senses to explore the inside of the vegetables and helped cut up the vegetables to make a soup mix! We had lots of fun!

Fruit Week! P1 used their senses to explore different fruits! We enjoyed eating our fruit at snack time, using the fruits to print patterns and colour in! We talked about what colour the fruits are, what shapes the are and which fruits are our favourite! Can you tell by our faces which fruits we enjoyed smelling and which fruits we did not like?

We love exploring the resources in our P1 classroom
