Today we say a very fond farewell to Mrs Henning (abs), Mr Martin, Mr Mawhinney and Mrs Soye who are all retiring after many dedicated years' service. These four teachers have been in King's Park for 35 years, 33 years, 23 years and 9 years respectively.
All four have been deeply committed to the children and to the school over the years and are highly respected members of staff. Their professionalism has been clear to see and they will all be greatly missed by pupils, parents and staff. They leave a legacy behind which will not be forgotten and we are very grateful to each one of them for all they have given to the school and our pupils.
On behalf of the whole school community we wish them all a healthy, happy retirement and every blessing for all that lies ahead for each one of them.
THANK YOU!!!
RE SCHOOL UNIFORM SURVEY AND REVIEW
25th June 2025
Dear Parent, Carer,
We recently sent out a survey to find out your thoughts on our school uniform for King’s Park Primary and Nursery School. Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the survey. Your participation was greatly appreciated.
The results of the survey are as follows:
Thank you to those who added in a comment at the end. They have been read and noted.
The results have been discussed at length with the Board of Governors. In response to the survey and the findings, there will be no change to the current policy of full school uniform from P1-P7. Children will continue to be permitted to wear their tracksuit on PE Days.
However, in order to make the uniform more affordable, you may if you wish purchase plain black jogging/tracksuit bottoms without the yellow line and also a plain yellow PE t-shirt without the school logo. These can be purchased in a range of shops. All other items of uniform will remain the same. Black shoes should be worn with the school uniform and trainers (preferably black) worn with the tracksuit. School badges are available from the school office.
We will also not require the children to have a separate yellow t-shirt or shorts to change into for PE. The black plimsoles will still be required for PE in the Assembly Hall.
Please note that there will be a uniform sale of second hand items in Emmanuel Church in Lurgan on July 28th from 9.30am - 11.30am and from 2pm-4pm. On 29th July the time is from 6.30pm-8.30pm. All items are £1. If you have any good quality pieces of uniform you don’t need then please leave these into school by Friday of this week and we will forward these to Emmanuel.
Thank you
H Brown

The standard of football on the day was exceptionally high, and both teams showed incredible determination, teamwork, and skill throughout the tournament.
Mr Shields would also like to pay a special tribute to all our P7 players who represented the school for the final time – thank you for your dedication and contribution to school sport over the years.
💙💛 We are immensely proud of every player – what an amazing way to end the season!
The annual Mid Ulster P6 Festival took place at Drungor on Friday. For the majority of the boys, it was their first time representing the school, making it a special occasion and giving them a taste of what’s to come in the year ahead. A special word of thanks to Mr Whittle for his support during his placement in school and help with the football.

An all-time high of 16 teams took part in this year’s Terry Shields Mid Ulster Shield, held at King’s Park Primary School, making it the biggest edition of the tournament to date.
The day proved to be a fantastic celebration of primary school football, with excellent sportsmanship and competitive spirit on display throughout. The participating schools were:
Waringstown, Tandragee, Maralin, Mullaglass, Markethill, St John the Baptist, Bocombra, Edenderry, Birches, Orchard County, St Francis, and King’s Park.
After an exciting series of matches, the Mid Ulster Shield was shared by Tandragee PS and Orchard County PS, both showcasing exceptional talent and teamwork. The Plate competition was also hotly contested and ended in a deserved share between Bocombra PS and The Birches PS.
Adding to the occasion, Northern Ireland legend and former captain Marissa Callaghan was in attendance to oversee proceedings and present the Player of the Tournament award – which went to the impressive Tandragee captain for her leadership and performances throughout the day.
A special word of thanks goes to Glenavon FC, Lurgan Town, the Irish FA, and our talented P6F photographers Mia and Eva, whose help and support made the day possible.
