Patron Saints of the United Kingdom

 

The United Kingdom (UK) is made up of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.    
 

What are patron saints?

Patron saints are chosen as special protectors or guardians over all areas of life. Traditionally people see them as symbols of how to live a better life.

You can have patron saints of all sorts of things, like jobs, organisations and animals.

But nations can have patron saints too. This week we are going to have a look at the Patron Saints of the four countries in the United Kingdom

 

Just a reminder when you see St. It is the short way to write the word Saint 

 

TUESDAY

The patron saint of Scotland is called Saint Andrew

St Andrew's Day is celebrated on the 30th November.
