November

This month in Nursery we will be exploring the theme of Wild Animals. We will be learning about animals that live in the jungle and in the zoo through our play and in our Community Time learning. We will learn their names and talk about their bodies; the colours on their coats, if they have patterns or special markings, as well as learn about where they live and what they like to eat. We hope to enjoy listening to stories about animals and sing lots of songs about animals too!

Through our play activities, we will also be developing our pre-writing skills, scissor skills, counting skills, as well as naming shapes!

Outdoors, we will be continuing to develop the skill of pedalling, as well as learning to independently put on and take off our coats!

Learning through our play outdoors!

Through our play outdoors, we are learning lots of important skills!
These skills include the gross motor skills of running, jumping, pedalling, throwing, catching, kicking, balancing and building models using small and large construction toys! Our fine motor skills are also being developed as we weave and draw pictures of wild animals on the ground using chunky chalk. Additional skills being developed include counting, learning about the world around us, caring for plants and mini beasts, sharing and turn taking, talking and listening skills, as well as our imaginations through our role play!

Outdoor play is very important for our development!

We are enjoying taking part in lots of pre-writing and scissor activities to help develop our fine motor skills!

We enjoyed a visit from Oxford Island staff who talked to us about minibeasts and helped us revamp our Minibeast hotels!

We enjoyed a wonderful visit from Jo Jingles!
