You can practically divide by 3 using small objects at home, for example, lego or marbles. Pick a multiple of 3 and share that number into 3 groups.

*Remember to chose 3 different numbers from 0-9 to create your HTU number.
* The biggest numbers will start with the biggest hundred number and then the biggest ten and so on.
* The smallest numbers will start with the smallest hundred number, then the smallest ten number....etc.

We’ve uploaded 3 videos that will help to remind you how to add tens and units.
Remember:

  • always begin adding at the units
  • add 3 numbers carefully 
  • show your exchange 

 

You can try the extension (+HTU) if you feel confident adding tens and units. You may have already done this in class with your teacher.
