Dividing by 3
You can practically divide by 3 using small objects at home, for example, lego or marbles. Pick a multiple of 3 and share that number into 3 groups.

*Remember to chose 3 different numbers from 0-9 to create your HTU number.
* The biggest numbers will start with the biggest hundred number and then the biggest ten and so on.

Set your sums out carefully.
Subtracting tens and units - without decomposition
Always check the units column; if there are not enough units on the top line you will need to exchange a ten for 10 units. Make sure you show all your working out.

Be careful, set out your HTU carefully. Remember if there are not enough units on the top line you need to exchange a ten for 10 units. Continue to show all your working out.
