## The relationship between multiplication and division | Maths - A World Without Maths

Suitable for ages 5 to 8. Divider Girl and Multiplication Girl show how multiplication and division are related as they help Baz and Dave solve a tricky problem.

## Dividing by 3

You can practically divide by 3 using small objects at home, for example, lego or marbles. Pick a multiple of 3 and share that number into 3 groups.

## 22nd/23rd April - Ordering HTU numbers

*Remember to chose 3 different numbers from 0-9 to create your HTU number.
* The biggest numbers will start with the biggest hundred number and then the biggest ten and so on.
* The smallest numbers will start with the smallest hundred number, then the smallest ten number....etc.
* Challenge yourself - how quickly can you can make all the HTU numbers from your 3 digits?

## Subtracting tens and units - without decomposition

Always check the units column; if there are not enough units on the top line you will need to exchange a ten for 10 units. Make sure you show all your working out.

## Subtracting hundreds, tens and units - with decomposition

Be careful, set out your HTU carefully. Remember if there are not enough units on the top line you need to exchange a ten for 10 units. Continue to show all your working out.
