Topic, Season, Colour, Shape

This week we are exploring:

Minibeasts, Teddy bears and Spring time!

As you complete your activities for Nursery this week, please continue to engage with colours, shapes and counting. This week you are making teddy bear art, matching sounds, searching for hearts, stars, ovals and semi circles and taking on a new colour challenge!

Below you will also find activities to talk about the days of the week, weather and what time of year it is!

Days of the Week!

It's important for Nursery children to be aware of and talk about the days of the week- including what day it was yesterday, what day it is today and what day tomorrow is going to be. Here is a fun video to help children learn the days of the week! It's to the tune of 'The Adams Family' so....get singing!

The Weather!

Talk to your child about the weather as it changes day by day. You can discuss yesterday’s weather, today's weather and predict the type of weather your child thinks tomorrow will bring! This is an open ended language activity as you can discuss the colours and shapes you can see, the season and what clothes you need to wear in different types of weather.

Colour Challenge!

We want you to keep looking for BLACK items, but this week your challenge is:

  1. Can you search for teddy bears that are black or have black on them? You could put them in order of height.
  2. Can you find a toy in your house that has 4 black wheels?
  3. Can you make black coloured ice and draw a picture outside? (How to do this below*)
  4. Can you find black paper and use chalk to draw a picture?

*Add black food colouring or a small amount of paint to water. Mix well and pour contents into an ice tray and freeze. You could put lolly pop sticks in each section of the tray so that your child can hold it when drawing their picture. If using paint, please ensure your child does not consume any*

Shape!

For your home learning, you have searched for triangles, rectangles, squares and circles. This week we would like you to search for OVALS, HEARTS, STARS and SEMI-CIRCLES! You can be Shape Detectives to find lots of shapes around your house. Then you can sort the shapes into piles- all the ovals together, all the hearts together etc.
