    Mon 20 Jun 2016

The start of the 2016 Centra Ulster Rugby Summer Camps are now less than 2 weeks away and places are already filling up quickly with a number of camps almost at full capacity.

This summer Ulster Rugby will roll out 22 camps across the Province from 4th July until 25th August for players of all ages and abilities.

This year will see the introduction of three-day School of Excellence camps for players aged 12-16 years, which have been developed in conjunction with Ulster Rugby's Director of Rugby Les Kiss and will be delivered by qualified Ulster Rugby staff. The School of Excellence camps will take place at Friends School, Lisburn, Royal School, Armagh, Campbell College, Belfast, City of Derry RFC and Virginia RFC, Co. Cavan.

Week-long junior camps will continue to run at 14 locations for boys and girls aged 6-12 years while two three-day girls youth camps at Clogher Valley RFC in Co. Tyrone and Cooke RFC in Belfast will cater for 12-18 year old girls. Newforge Sports Complex in Belfast will once again host a Special Needs Camp.

Each year the Summer Camps have grown in popularity and since their launch in 2008, have welcomed over 11,000 participants. Young players benefit from expert advice from qualified Ulster Rugby staff coaches with Ulster players on hand to give tips on the game, talk about life as a professional player and interact with the participants.

With places filling up fast, parents are encouraged to register quickly to avoid disappointment. For more information or to book places on any of the camps, visit www.ulsterrugby.com/summercamps

  • Titanic Champion

    Mon 06 Jun 2016

A massive congratulations to Megan Ross who was crowned the

Nomadic’s Petit Pâtisserie Chef after designing SS Nomadic's anniversary cake.

Megan used striking colours to illustrate SS Nomadic’s industrial maritime history from its launch 105 years ago.

She also won the opportunity for her class to visit the last remaining White Star Line vessel and the biggest Titanic artefact in the world, and celebrate the anniversary on board yesterday.

Siobhan McCartney, Titanic Belfast’s Learning and Outreach Manager, said: "Megan’s cake was the outright winner of the competition.

"Her cake design used striking colours to illustrate SS Nomadic’s industrial maritime history, from its launch 105 years ago, with a career spanning from serving Titanic, WW1 and WW11, to tendering celebrities such as Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor to its role today as a visitor attraction and a learning facility.

"The 31st May marks a day of great historical significance for SS Nomadic. Originally over 100,000 people gathered in Belfast, from as far as America, to mark the occasion when it alongside, its sister ship Traffic and RMS Olympic left Belfast and RMS Titanic was launched.

"Last year, it was reunited with Titanic Belfast and this year it is fully open as a learning space. It was a pleasure to have the pupils from Kings Park Primary on board to celebrate."
