Welcome to latest news
Dear Parent/Carer,
UPDATED COVID-19 PROCEDURES
When in school if your child displays a high temperature/fever, loss of taste or smell or a new continuous cough, THEY AND ANY OTHER SIBLINGS IN SCHOOL WILL BE SENT HOME. This is in accordance with the updated guidance for schools.
The guidance states that a covid test should then be arranged for the child displaying the symptoms and the rest of the household must isolate at home and await the test results.
The school should be informed as soon as the test results are received.
Once again we would request that pupils are NOT SENT TO SCHOOL IF THEY ARE UNWELL IN ANY WAY.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Celebrating Parenting in Challenging Times
Monday 19th - Friday 23rd October
It's only one month to go before the launch of Parenting Week and we are so excited! Due to the nature of 2020, we've organised a number of online activities and events for the week & created a pack of downloadable resources for you to enjoy at home or in the classroom. We'll be hosting online coffee mornings, sharing Top Tips throughout the week, hosting competitions, and much more … Don't miss out! Keep an eye on our social media during the week and get involved in all the excitement!
Parenting Week is a celebration of the important role parents play in their children's lives. The week takes place every October, in 2020 Parenting Week will be from Monday 19th - Friday 23rd October.
As well as celebrating the amazing, and often difficult, job parents do, the week gives us as an organisation an opportunity to focus on the issues affecting parents and to highlight the support available.
2020 has been a challenging year for us all! We wanted Parenting Week 2020 to acknowledge how difficult this year has been, while celebrating the incredible work parents do every day. We hope to celebrate the positive moments that lockdown has brought and reflect on the importance of family and fostering strong relationships with your children.
Don't forget to use our hashtag #parentingweek on social media when sharing any of your creations during the week!

KING'S PARK PRIMARY AND NURSERY SCHOOL
(EDUCATION AUTHORITY – SOUTHERN REGION)
18 September 2020
Dear Parent/Carer,
Please find below a revised school timetable.
These times will take effect from Monday 28 September and will run to the half term break on 23 October and revised by the Board of Governors at their October meeting.
Parents and carers should be aware that these times follow the Department of Education Guidance in terms of the need for schools to manage class ‘bubbles’ and staggered arrival and departure times of their pupils, and also the regulations on teachers conditions of service.
It is important for everyone to know that currently your child’s teacher is with their class from 8.45am until home time every day with only a 30 minute lunch break. This is necessary again to maintain the class ‘bubble’ which will be important if and when we have a positive Covid-19 case in the class. In that event it is our understanding all children and adults within the ‘bubble’ will be off school for 14 days.
To emphasise our ‘bubbles’ are each made up of one class of pupils and adults and to facilitate this teachers have agreed to forego their break time (15 minutes) and their lunch time break has been reduced to 30 minutes rather than as formally 40 minutes.
Again the Governors will keep these arrangements under review over the coming weeks and they thank you for your continued support at these extra ordinary times.
Finally, can I again ask all of our parents and carers who drive their child/children to school to consider parking a little further away from the school and walking the last part of the journey. Also, we now open the Lurgan Park gate each morning and afternoon to help with access to our grounds.
Your sincerely

KING'S PARK PRIMARY AND NURSERY SCHOOL
(EDUCATION AUTHORITY – SOUTHERN REGION)
Dear Parent/Guardian,
We trust your child is settling back into the school routine and is enjoying being in class again. Your continued support and patience regarding the new ‘restart timetable’ is greatly appreciated. School start and finish times will remain the same until the end of this month when they will be reviewed. All current systems are kept under constant review and will be changed/updated as necessary and parents/guardians informed.
Over the past number of months, everyone has worked together to prevent the spread of Covid-19. To allow this to continue, we request that, should your child test positive for Covid-19, you inform school immediately so that we can take the necessary steps as set out by the Public Health Agency.
How to contact the school: Monday to Friday 8.30am – 3.30pm telephone 028 3832 2450
Outside school hours – Text or phone: 07783 300575
The child’s name, class and a contact telephone number needs to be supplied. We will then call you back to confirm details.
The teachers are working hard within their bubbles to provide the best possible experience for your children. Whilst the teacher is in school with a full class, it is not possible to provide home learning for individual children who are off sick, or awaiting test results. However home learning will be provided for pupils who are self-isolating due to positive covid tests within their class bubble or for someone in their household. Please be assured that every effort will be made to help your child catch up on their return. Children will still have access to any home learning provided to the rest of the class via the dojo.
If you need to contact the class teacher via dojo please be aware that your messages will be responded to within school hours only.
We would like to remind you that in order to ensure staff, pupils and their families remain as safe as possible the following guidelines should be followed.
Please DO NOT SEND CHILDREN TO SCHOOL who:

17 August 2020
Dear Parent/Guardian,
I would welcome all of our families again after what has been and is a most extraordinary and unprecedented time for everyone. I would thank everyone for your co-operation and patience over these past months.
The Minister of Education has sent you two attached messages which I would ask everyone to read carefully. I would emphasise that the health and safety, personal hygiene and pastoral care of your child will be our main priorities in the days ahead.
This letter will be followed by another email from your child’s new class teacher which you can expect before mid-day tomorrow.
That information will contain details of your child’s start and finishing time each day over the first three weeks of the term.
These times will be reviewed over the coming weeks and may be subject to change as necessary. Again parents will be informed of any changes during September.
The following information is also to be noted:
Uniform – children may come to school in polo shirt and tracksuit or regular school uniform if parents so wish.
Coats – coats will be kept in classrooms as cloak areas will be out of use.
Lunches – all children who will be attending must bring a packed lunch and break snack next week 24-28 August.
– all lunches/break time snacks should be brought to school in a plastic container which will be taken home each day.
– Dinners will start on 1 September.
School bags – children should not bring in school bags; school will provide plastic zip folders to each child.
– each child should bring in a second plastic box for their stationery items plus tissues and hand sanitisers/anti-bacterial wipes. All items in the box to be provided by parents.
Medical – All necessary medication ie epi-pens etc should be sent in to your child’s class teacher on their first day.
PE Kits – will not be required until further notice.
Updated address/contact numbers – Please ensure these are with the office as soon as possible.
Parentpay – Please register for this cashless system before your child/children commence school. If you are having any difficulties registering, please contact Mrs Morrow in the school office.
Parent/Carers – Parents/Carers are not to enter the school building until further notice.
Parent/Carers may wish to wear face coverings when waiting for children.
Timetable Arrival/Departure:
All Primary 7 children will return on the 24th August, details will be in the teacher’s email tomorrow and all other children will return on a staggered timetable to facilitate settling in. Nursery to Primary 6 children will return in small groups throughout the week 24 to 28 August. The precise return date and time will be sent to all parents by mid-day tomorrow Tuesday 18th August. It is planned to have all classes into school on 1st September. Note: 31 August is a public holiday and school will be closed.
Entry Doors/Gates:
The park gate will be opened each day at 8.45am for 30 minutes and again from 1.30 to 2.45pm each day to facilitate entry. Children will be instructed by their teacher as to which door they enter and leave school each day. We would ask everyone to use only their assigned door to enter and leave school.
Start Times:
For health and safety reasons start times from 1 September will be staggered.
8.45am – children with surnames from A to L
8.55am – children with surnames from M to R
9.00am – children with surnames from S to Z
Home times will also be staggered and class teachers will provide details in their correspondence.
The Governors have agreed with the above measures which will facilitate a full return of all our children on 1 September.
Yours sincerely

Dear Parent/Guardian,
Further to our plan for a return to school of all children in late August early September. Our aim is still to have all of our children into school early next term and importantly to observe the social distancing rules for children and adults at all times.
This will involve much detailed pre-planning by the school, which is currently taking place and much understanding on your part.
We also understand that the NI Executive and the Department of Education will be issuing further guidance to schools by mid-August. This guidance may cause us to change our plans at any time over the coming weeks.
As things stand at present there will be a staggered intake across P2 to P7 classes over the last week of August and throughout September. Arrangements for Nursery and Primary 1 will be staggered throughout late August and the month of September as is normal practice.
Parents and guardians will be informed by email on 17/18 August which children should return on which dates, also regarding the procedures to be followed and the timetable for dropping off children and the collection of children to and from school each day.
Further details will also be issued at that time regarding packed lunches, uniform, pupils personal items ie pencils, rubbers etc etc. and other health and safety guidance.
Parents are reminded that we will introduce a cashless money system across the school from the beginning of the term and everyone is asked to make sure you are registered for this system. If you have not yet registered or are having any difficulties registering please contact Mrs Morrow in the school office from 17 August.
Finally, I will write again to all of our families on 17 August to update everyone so until then, take care stay safe and enjoy the rest of the holidays.
Sincerely
T Shields
