WELLBEING DAY 5th FEBRUARY
Dear Parent/Carer,
We have just completed 4 weeks of lockdown and remote teaching/key worker cover. Our pupils and parents have worked extremely hard over these weeks and I would like to commend you all for your efforts.
I would once again emphasise to all our parents not to put too much pressure on yourselves to complete all of the work set each day with your child/ren, but to do what you can, particularly if you are a key worker. Please do not feel you have to complete and post all of the work set each day on the dojo if you are unable to manage it on a particular day/s. You are doing very well in what are difficult circumstances at present and we want to say a BIG THANK YOU!
The children have been working extremely hard and their teachers are delighted with all of the work that is being completed each day. WELL DONE BOYS AND GIRLS! We are very proud of you!
Our teachers have been working long hours both in school and at home, setting work each day and preparing workpacks for the children. THANK YOU to all our staff for what they are providing on an educational and pastoral level for our children.
I’m sure you will agree it has been a difficult and stressful few weeks and we are mindful that the health and wellbeing of our pupils is paramount.
This week is ‘Children’s Mental Health Week’ and we have decided that Friday 5th February will be a ‘Wellbeing Day’ for all the pupils. The teachers will not set any work to be completed on Friday. They may suggest some other activities for you to do as a family eg go out for a walk, play a game together etc. The children are also encouraged to ‘express themselves’ during the week and to talk about how they feel.
We trust you will be able to take this opportunity on Friday to relax together as a family.
Yours sincerely

Dear Parent/Carer,
We have received correspondence from the Minister of Education today at 4.55pm to inform us that Primary Schools will now re-open for all children on Monday 11th January.
Nursery schools will open on their planned start date which in our case will be on Tuesday 5th January.
Key Worker/Vulnerable children will be offered supervised learning in school, if no other child care can be provided at home, on the 6th, 7th and 8th January. All other children will receive remote learning at home on the above dates. Further details on the above will be sent to Parents/Carers on the 4th January.
So at this late hour on 31st December we would wish everyone a Happy New Year.

Dear Parent/Carer,
As you will be aware the Minister of Education announced on Friday 18 December that schools will open as planned in January 2021. Consequently, as things stand all children will return to King’s Park on Tuesday 5 January at the normal staggered arrival times beginning at 8.45am. Teachers’ have an in-service training day on the 4 January.
As we all know things are changing almost on a daily basis and should we receive new instruction from the Minister over the holidays, which change the above plan, we will contact you directly by email and through our “news” section on our website.
Finally, in these worrying and challenging times we hope all of our children and families will have an enjoyable Christmas and we look forward to everyone returning safely on the 5 January.
Yours sincerely

Christmas Holidays – letter to schools from the Minister of Education dated 8 December 2020
Dear parent/carer,
The following extract is taken from the above letter.
“I have previously stated that there are no plans to extend the Christmas holidays for schools, indicating that this would only cause further disruption to children’s education and lead to an increase in levels of stress and anxiety. It is, therefore, my expectation that, unless advised to do so by the Public Health Agency (PHA) due to health related reasons, or other non-health emergencies …………………… , all schools should remain open to all year groups for face-to-face teaching for the remainder of this term until their planned Christmas holiday.”
It is our intention to comply with the Minister’s expectation. School will therefore remain open as planned until the staggered home time on Monday 21 December. Dinners will be served as normal on this date.
Staggered times: 12.00 Nursery, P1, P2
12.15 P3, P4
12.30 P5, P6, P7
Yours sincerely,
Mr W Jennett Chairman of the Board of Governors
Mr T Shields Principal
Road Safety:
We would ask all parents/carers to remind your child/ren of the road safety rules and the importance of using the marked crossings, outside the school, properly at all times.
